Goodspeed's journey to the Electronica 2012

Electronica 2012, the leading international trade fair kicked off today in Munich, Germany. We recently announced our co-operation with Sanmina-SCI, our partner in manufacturing Goodspeed mobile hotspot. This week we will be at the Electronica fair together with Sanmina-SCI exhibiting Goodspeed, the first international roaming-free device.

But how did the story with Sanmina initially start? Well, international travellers had long suffered from high data roaming fees and poor connectivity when travelling abroad. And as the mobile data traffic escalates, the problem was going to grow even bigger. The Uros founders understood the need and envisioned a pocket-size device that would create a private Wi-Fi network and share the connection with up to five Internet devices, without roaming fees.

Goodspeed was introduced to Sanmina in early September 2011 and the project began in the following month. The good personal relationships helped it start smoothly, and Sanmina worked from the initial concept to create the product. The nearby location of the Sanmina factory, the combined design and manufacturing process, as well as Sanmina’s vast experience among other reasons, led to fruitful collaboration. Goodspeed was born and launched in September 2012.

The service currently covers many European nations and global expansion is underway. We welcome you to meet our top team, CEO Tommi Uhari and VP Operations Jerry Raatikainen, at the Electronica 2012. They will be answering your questions at the Sanmina-SCI stand, booth 105 Hall C1. Maybe they’ll even give you a chance to test the Goodspeed network. But be warned, you might get hooked on that feeling of Internet freedom.
